# Access System Quick Starts

> Seam provides a unified API to manage your access system. These guides walk you through the process of issuing your first credentials to access system users.

<Info>
  **Granting access?** [Access Grants](/use-cases/granting-access/index) are the
  default and recommended way to grant access—they manage the underlying codes
  and credentials for you, across standalone smart locks and access systems
  alike.

<Info>
  These quick starts introduce you to the Seam access system resources and
  processes using specific supported access control systems as examples. Note
  that there are often differences between access control systems. Once you've
  completed the quick starts, learn how to work with your access system using
  Seam, by reading the [system integration
  guide](/device-and-system-integration-guides#access-control-systems)
  for your access system.
