# Salto KS Lock Setup Guide

> Connect your Salto KS locks to Seam.

## Overview

This guide walks you through connecting your Salto KS locks to Seam. Your locks must already be set up and working in the Salto KS platform before proceeding.

<Info>
Seam supports two integrations for Salto KS. We recommend using the [Salto KS
  access control system
  integration](/device-and-system-integration-guides/salto-ks-access-control-system)
because it provides more robust functionality, such as managing ACS users and
credentials. However, if you want to connect a single or just a few Salto KS
locks, you can choose the Salto KS lock integration described in this guide.

## Prerequisites

Before connecting your Salto KS devices to Seam, confirm the following:

* **Site Admin rights:** You must use a Salto KS web app user account that has "Site Admin" rights.
* **Production environment:** You must use a Salto KS production environment account. You cannot use "Accept Environment" credentials. To confirm your account type, check the Salto KS dashboard URL. The subdomain must be `app` (for example, `https://app.saltoks.com`). A subdomain of `app-accept` (for example, `https://app-accept.saltoks.com`) indicates an Accept Environment that cannot connect to Seam.
* **Released sites:** Make sure that your installer has released your Salto KS sites. Seam cannot perform actions on unreleased Salto KS sites.

## Step 1: Confirm Your Salto KS Account

1. Create an account in the [Salto KS app](https://app.saltoks.com/) if you have not done so already.
2. In the Salto KS app, confirm that your Salto KS devices are added and online.
3. Note your login credentials for the Salto KS app.

***

## Step 2: Connect to Seam via Connect Webview

1. Open the [Connect Webview](/core-concepts/connect-webviews) provided by your application.
2. If the Connect Webview displays multiple brand options, select **Salto KS**.
3. In the **Enter your credentials** dialog, type your username and password for the Salto KS web app and then click **Log In**.
4. Select **Full Access** and then click **Yes, Allow**.
5. Select the Salto KS sites that you want to integrate with Seam and then click **Continue**.
6. Click **Allow and Continue** to confirm that you allow Seam to add the requisite admin user to your Salto KS site for the integration with Seam.

<Warning>Do not suspend or remove the Seam Integration admin user from your Salto KS site.</Warning>

## Step 3: Verify the Connection

After connecting, verify that your Salto KS locks appear as devices and show as online with unlock and access code capabilities.

## Troubleshooting

### Authorization fails in Connect Webview

Make sure you are using a Salto KS account with Site Admin rights and a production environment URL (`https://app.saltoks.com`). Accept Environment credentials (`https://app-accept.saltoks.com`) cannot connect to Seam.

### Locks not appearing after authorization

Ensure your Salto KS sites have been released by your installer. Seam cannot perform actions on unreleased sites. Also confirm that devices are online in the Salto KS app.

### `salto_site_user_not_subscribed` error

This error means the Salto KS site has exceeded the allowed number of users for its subscription plan. To resolve this:

1. Reduce the number of access codes you have created. Each access code takes up one user slot.
2. Ask the device owner to contact their Salto installer to increase the subscription limit on their site.

### Lock shows an `unknown` device type

This indicates a weak connection with the Salto IQ hub. Contact a Salto installer for assistance.
