# Avigilon Alta Setup Guide

> Connect your Avigilon Alta access system to Seam.

## Overview

This guide walks you through connecting your Avigilon Alta access control system to Seam. Your Avigilon Alta system must already be set up and working before proceeding.

***

## Step 1: Gather Your Credentials

Obtain the credentials for a user within the Avigilon Alta organization to which you want to connect.

***

## Step 2: Verify User Permissions

1. In a web browser, navigate to and log in to your [Avigilon Alta dashboard](https://control.openpath.com/login).
2. In the settings for the user, verify the user's permissions as follows:

   * Make sure that **Portal access** is selected (enabled).
   * Make sure that the **Roles** for the user include **Super Admin**.

***

## Step 3: Connect to Seam

Use the credentials for the user to log in to the [Connect Webview](/core-concepts/connect-webviews) to add your Avigilon Alta access system and devices to Seam.

***

## Step 4: Verify the Connection

After connecting, verify that your Avigilon Alta system and devices appear in your Seam workspace and show a **connected** status.

***

## Troubleshooting

### Connection fails during login

* Double-check that the user credentials are correct.
* Confirm that the user has **Portal access** enabled and the **Super Admin** role assigned.

### Devices not appearing after connecting

* Verify that your devices are registered and online in the [Avigilon Alta dashboard](https://control.openpath.com/login).
